THE CLICK'S DOWN & DIRTY and 3RD BASS' DERELICTS OF DIALECT

Talk about two polar opposites. E-40, B-Legit and family come way too hard on their first group album as The Click. Being a NY native, this album wasn't exactly common walkman material amongst my peers, but you can't get any better than the high pitched speed rap of E-40 and the slow pimped out dank smoke drawl of B-Legit whose voice sounds like he weighs about 717 pounds. "Let's Get Drunk" has the best sampled hook I ever heard.

"Let's Get Drunk...Drink up! And throw up in the car".

And why people walked around singing "Hip Hop Hooray" instead, I'll never know.

But the best song on the LP has to be "Tramp Dogs", B-Legit's solo track and you know by the title what it's about. Something about hearing misogynist bitch baiting rhymes with B-Legits slow, country, pimp, smoked out, king sized drawl makes it the best song I've ever heard. Too many great lines here, but the magic is more in how he says it than in what he says. I spoke to him a few times abot doin some music a few years ago, and he had a pager then. Ol school is the only way, B-Legit for president. And The Click is that inaugural theme music.

3,000 miles away, we had the A-Train line's baddest white boys. Bed-Stuy to Far Rock, 3rd Bass. People will think I'm crazy for this, but I thought their second album Derelicts of Dialect was better than their better selling more acclaimed debut, The Cactus Album. Beatwise at least. Prince Paul, SD50's and the extremely underrated Sam Sever all deliver what may be in the top 10 slept on production albums of all time. Why Sam Sever never got his due is beyond me, and further proof that hiphop is a game of cool points, not talent. Big up Sam, where you at? Not to mention Chubb Rock, Nice-N-Smooth and KMD all stop by to bring dope shit and how dope is this?....A vinyl only bonus cut that's different from the tape/cd bonus cut. Now that's fan appreciation.

I always post an ol school broad that I wanted to bang as a kid for my girl of the month. But this time, I gotta post an overrated girl that I wouldnt touch (sober), but for whatever reason the broad gets love from other fellas. Drumroll pleeze...That to' up bitch from Sex In The City.
