"But I don't celebrate bullshit Thanksgivin, sit up like some fool and eat turkey, thats the day yo forefathers jerked me!" - Ice-T

I always loved that line. It had serious undertones, but the way Ice-T said it was downright hilarious! I ain't had no turkey ever since, but I'll fuck up some collard greens or whatver else I can get free at peoples houses!

ALBUM OF THE MONTH
ICE-T: OG-ORIGINAL GANGSTER

Fuck it. We were on the subject of Ice-T, I be watchin Law & Order SVU and he just dropped an album. I gotta show some love for Ice. Us yellow lightskinned niggas gotta stick together since Heavy D., Kid & Redhead Kingpin are nowhere to be found.

If you're looking for one of the blueprints of a J-Zone album, look no further than this one. 20 something songs (a majority of them under 3 minutes like yours truly) a lot of humor (albeit the serious main message) and funky, chopped up, heavily detailed beats. There's even a song about not being able to sample a record because the static keeps fuckin up the beat ("Fried Chicken"), which starts with a classic mama joke ("Nigga, ya mama got feet growin out her titties, bitch fell down and kept running"). If I was making records in 1991 and was a street dude, OG woulda been a J-Zone album. Not only is it Ice's best work, but it's a top 10 album for '91 which is an amazing accopmishment considering the J-Zone favorite classics that dropped that year (Death Certificate, Cypress Hill, Penicillin on Wax, De La Soul is Dead, efiL 4 zaggiN, Business As Usual, Step In The Arena, Mr. Hood, Future Without A Past, Words From A Genius, Reachin A Level Of Assassination, Bazerk Bazerk Bazerk, Mr. Scarface is Back, Breakin Atoms, Sylk Smoov, Derelicts Of Dialect, etc.). 1990 & 91 were hiphop's best years (in my opinion at least...sorry class of '88), and OG embodies that time frame so well but still holds up and somehow gets criminally slept on. Beats, rhymes, structure and concepts...all there. It's cheap used online, so if u ain't got it...get it! Salute Ice-T!

OL SCHOOL BROAD(S) OF THE MONTH
EVERY CHICK FROM HEAD OF THE CLASS EXCEPT THE LIL NERD

We all know about my love/hate crush on Robin Givens from way back. She was the baddest bitch on that show, but the other girls on there were cute in a mid-80's way. Even the readhead and tomboy Rain Pryor. They could all get it, at least back then. Robin is the only one I know still lookin good. The only one I wouldn't touch was the young nerd child prodigy. Lord no. But I'll bet you that chick is prolly the baddest of all of em these days haha. Pour out a lil liquor for Head Of The Class, an 80's kid favorite.

"THIS SHIT GOTTA GO" FAD OF THE MONTH

I usually use this column to complain about fashion, fads, sayings and general lifestyle faux pas that are popular but suspect. I will never speak on hiphop here, but this one time I just have to. Producers...please try to do something besides the sped up soul sample and that finger snap snare that everybody else uses. I hate to complain about this because wasting time giving ink to something this trivial hurts me, but I mean EVERY beat I hear is that same formula. I'm not even hatin, just try something slightly different for once. I can almost predict every beat to be a 4 bar loop of some Motown joint on 78RPM with that same snare everytime. Break some rules if even for one beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TOP 10 NBA RANDOM THOUGHTS

10. I know its still early, but am I seeing this right? The Suns at the bottom of the Pacific and the Hawks rule the Southeast? I know Joe Johnson is an underrated great baller but damn...there are too many surprises. The Heat, Suns and Mavs better get on track or I'm publicly denouncing my Source magazine NBA preview.

9. After years of tellin people that Keyon Dooling was the truth and being ignored, he finally backed up my hype as he shot 5 for 5 from three (25 pts.) and his Magic beat the punk ass Nuggets (aka team overrated). I like Earl Boykins, but stop givin Melo all that hype. The Magic are gonna surprise people, and the Heat trading Dooling was stupid. There is nobody in their backcourt with the speed to defend other great point guards, which could hurt them should they face the Nets or Spurs. Dooling coulda helped with that...

8. Speaking of stupid trades, the Bucks GM's need dunce caps. The second best shooter in the NBA (Micheal Redd) torched dudes for 57 points the other day and Mo Williams and Andrew Bogut are nice as well, but TJ Ford was the brain of last years team. To trade him to the Raptors for Villanueva was stupid. Villanueva is good, but in this league the most valuable commodities are a pure point guard and a big man. They lost a true point guard, and now everybody loses, cause even though the Raptors and Bucks are fun to watch, TJ ford on the Bucks would have made them a playoff contender again. Instead of building for the future, the Bucks tried to be the Heat and win just for this year...which they won't anyway.

7. Is it me or is Tony Parker developing into a monster? I always hated the Spurs and I never said he wasn't good, but he is givin dudes problems and they will burn whoever they face if they get to the finals because no point guard in the East except maybe Jason Kidd can hold him.

6. And is it me or is Yao beginning to play like he wants it? I never was a Yao fan, but he is finally beginning to play like he's 7'6. I was never a T-Mac fan either, but the Rockets are looking OK. Another surprise team, we'll see if they can uphold it. Luther Head is good ball player, and a very underrated shooter as well, and with that I present...

5. The NBA's most underrated (in no particular order): 1. Kevin Martin (Kings) 2. Baron Davis (Warriors) 3. Keyon Dooling (Magic) 4. Jameer Nelson (Magic) 5. Antoine Wright (Nets) 6. Joe Johnson (Hawks) 7. TJ Ford (Raptors) 8. Sam Cassell/Shawn Livingston (tie) (Clippers) 9. Jason Terry (Mavs) 10. Luke Ridnour (Sonics)...I know half of you will disagree or say somebody from your hometown deserves to be in there and rightfully so, so hit me with anybody you feel I've missed.

4. LeBron walked off the floor in an obvious loss. Unclassy, yeah, but who gives a fuck. Stop trippin and move on. Complain about that when you find somebody that can stop LeBron!

3. I will always be a Sonic fan, you know that. Since the early 90's them and the Blazers was my teams. Their logo is my myspace contact table not just because the colors match the page. Ray Allen is smooth as James Brown's cape, so stop sayin "Jay, you like the Sonics? Ewwwww!" They playin well, so hopefully they keep it up and get to the playoffs and if the Suns, Nuggets and Mavs continue how they've started, I'll tell you all to kiss my ass in April!

2. After I got the chance to go to the Kings/Warriors game last night (good lookin for the tickets, Ian), I can say these few things. 1. Baron Davis is a monster (36 points, 18 dimes). 2. That mothafucka is crackhead quick when you see him live. 3. Sacramento (though they lost) has the NBA's best kept secret in Kevin Martin. That dude is a future all-star trust me. 4. The Kings have some solid role players (Price, Hart and Douby (if they give him some playing time), as well as Martin, Artest and Bibby...don't sleep! 5. Donta Ellis, J Rich and Pietrus are solid for the Warriors and 6. The Warriors crowd at Oracle Arena be haaaaatin on Mike Dunleavy! I felt bad for the dude, he played well that game. But I can see why they be heckin him...

1. Although I will surprise a lot of people and admit that the Knicks young players are looking pretty good lately (Nate, Lee, Richardson, Balkman), I will say they still suck as a team. The reason? Lightbulb head Marbury, Francis and Fat Curry. I actually thing they'd be a fun to watch work in progress if they drop that trio of dingbats. These young dudes on the Knicks are actually doin pretty well. Seriously...
