Talk about slept on. In 1992 it wasn't hard to get slept on. Mecca And The Soul Brother, The Chronic, Business Never Personal, Daily Operation, Whut?! Thee Album, Dead Serious,The Predator...What could you really do? That's the case with many early 90's albums that were great, even classic. Too much good music out at the time. Plus, after they didn't freestyle on MTV Raps, 2nd II None wound up in hip-hop purgatory, at least on the East Coast. Not with me though. This album is the definition of having a hilarious good time, showcasing young knucklehead life, getting in a serious moment edgewise and brilliant production.

Tha D and KK weren't exactly Rakim and Scarface, but that's all good wth me. They knew what it took to holddown an LP in entertaining fashion and cover a wide range of themes. The beats? Shoot me now, but I still say this is the best thing DJ Quik has ever produced. Even to this day. And I'm a huge Quik fan. The blend of pimp drunk funk samples, black comedy snippets, live instrumentation and obnoxious bass put this one over the top. And the real stealfor a young upcoming producer named J-Zone? Quik's use of pan mixing. Mixing sounds hard left and hard right makes for anaudio assault, especially with headphones on. I remember my stereo was busted and only played in mono. Then I took thetape to the walkman and it fucked me up to hear shit that I never heard before...it seemingly popped onto the tape by magic! That's what introduced me to pan mixing and the fun you could have when producing...and Tha D and KK helped introduce me to the art of shit talking ("tryina get my bone on/ you aint fuckin? how you gettin home?"). KK autographed my copy in 2003 and was shocked that a New Yorker was up on that record. Had I not been, life woulda been different...salute!

SLEPT ON BEAUTY OF THE MONTH: LARK VOORHIES

Dayum! She's amazing. She looks familiar. That's what I was thinking when I was watching Martin last week. Thanks to tv.com, it was as simple as looking up the episode and getting her name. Then it rang a bell, Saved By The Bell (no pun intended). As cute as she is, I hated that show and never paid attention, so she went unnoticed. But Martin brought her back to attention. If I met her, all that could come out my mouth is a marriage proposal and maybe a lil drool. Then to find out that was Martin's girl back in the day.I may try to pull my ears bigger with hopes of a shot. Criminaly slept on, she'll give em all a run for the dinero. Name a girl, she ain't safe. A romantic dinner at Subway is in order for me and Lars. Maybe even Red Lobster, she's worth the price of that popcorn shrimp for sure. Now I'm looking for everything she's done, which doesn't happen too often. And I'm watching In The House regularly (she was a frequent guest and it beats Saved By The Bell)...and that surely doesn't happen too often. Lark, wherever you are, mwah! You've earned your spot in the J-Zone hall of fame. Salute!

Hmmmmm. They dismantled my Sonics. Ray is a Celtic. The Knicks amazingly got Zach Randolph and gave up nothing. They may get Ron Artest (rumors). I can't ay muchnow, but come November I have an earful. Now I gotta be a Celtic fan, no choice. And I'll be front and center when Ray gets 40 opening night and exposes the Knicksbackcourt (lack of) defense. We'll see...Til next time...
